The two masterpieces of Alexander Csoma de Kőrös, the Tibetan-English dictionary and the Tibetan grammar were published in Calcutta in 1834. In their brief prefaces Csoma himself gives a concise summary of his journeys, an outline of the circumstances of the composition of these works, and he stresses their utility to future researchers of Buddhism. We publish here the two prefaces in facsimile edition.
